running q from my windows PC

I tried to follow the instructions under http://code.kx.com/wiki/Tutorials/Installation?_ga=1.145772340.1247549383.1453193610#Double_Click_Me...

But when I double click, a window pops up for a small split-second and then disappears. How should I fix this issue?Is any other env variable missing?

I don't like the command prompt so much.

Hi Mani,

some questions -

Did you install the 2 files, q and q.k into the directory c:\q ?

Did you set the QHOME environment variable to c:\q ?

If you try the command line method, does kdb+ startup ok? That's a good reference point. If it doesn't start under the cmd ln method, what error does it show?
